Features of the SYMA X5C Quadcopter

There are many features that make the SYMA X5C Quadcopter such a great choice for those new to quadcopters. One of the most important aspects is of course the cost, but it’s not just about that. The controls are not too complicated and a few minutes alone with the controls are all you’ll need to get going. Experienced quadcopter owners may prefer something that has a slightly more lightweight build, but it’s sturdy frame makes it very resistant to damage from drops and crashes.

  • Battery powered quadcopter – uses 500mAh battery
  • Weighs in at 2.4G
  • Blade guards for extra durability
  • Features controls for up/down, forward/backward/sideways
  • 360 eversion
  • 2 megapixel lightweight camera pre-installed
  • 50 meter flying distance
  • Flying time can last up to 8 minutes
  • Controller uses 4 x AA batteries
  • 2GB SD card for camera

Pros and Cons

If you are new to quadcopters, the SYMA X5C Quadcopter is a great opportunity for you to get into the field. It’s price tag is a lot lower than drones with a similar calibre, and the included camera just adds onto the sweet deal. The quadcopter has been built with durability in mind and as a result it’s ready to deal with a bit more a beating than more lightweight device may be able to put up with.

Weighing in at 2.4G on it’s own, it’s still lightweight enough to be easy to control. It’s versatile and it can be controlled with relative ease. The included blade guards are great for anybody who may be uncomfortable with flying the quadcopter without crashing it, but they do add a bit of extra unnecessary weight. For experience quadcopter flyers, this may be something that makes the drone a bit clunkier than others at a similar price point. Fortunately the blade guards can be removed.

At 2 megapixels, the camera installed onto the drone is by no means a decent camera. You’ll notice quite shaky, grainy results from your images and video isn’t that much more focused either. It’s important to understand that for around $50, you can’t expect much else.

If you want to look at some options before making your decision, some of the most popular drones with cameras include the DJI Phantom Aerial UAV Drone Quadcopter  and the DJI Phantom 3 Professional Quadcopter Drone with 4K UHD Video Camera.

What is the SYMA X5C good for?

If you’re new to using quadcopters this drone will be perfect for you. It’s great for those on a budget and it’s durable build makes it great for keeping itself safe when it crashes. The controls are easy to get used to as well, even though there is an advanced control option for more experienced quadcopter users.

Even if you aren’t sure you’ll enjoy flying a quadcopter, there’s no reason not to pick up this gadget for such a great price. Chances are you’ll get at least a bit of fun out of it, and if you enjoy flying a quadcopter enough you may even consider upgrading in the future.
