The DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ is not just a successor from the first Phantom, it’s a complete upgrade. It’s an advancement in almost every aspect, although this includes the price. While the original Phantom can be picked up for under $400, this quad comes much closer to $1,000. Is the jump in price point justified? We’ll be answering this and more in our review.
There is a lot about this quad that makes it an attractive buy – It comes with a lot of the great software-side features of the original Phantom as well as a few hardware changes. A good example of this would be the 3-axis gimbal. Many of the changes in this model help to make capturing video footage even better. This quadcopter is definitely designed for professionals who are looking to capture aerial footage and it’s certainly got many features that lean in favor of this audience as opposed to hobbyist quadcopter owners.

Pros and Cons
Whilst the DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ may have been made very well, there are cheaper models that offer similar flight experiences. However, if you consider all of the extra audio visual features and smart link capabilities that have been bundled in with this quadcopter, you’ll notice that the value is a lot more worth the money.
The HD video camera pre-installed on this quad produces exceptionally high quality stills and video footage, and although there is only a 2GB micro SD card available out of the box, this will easily provide an hour’s worth of footage. This is over twice as long as the potential flight time from one full charge from the 5,200mAh battery.
The 3-axis gimbal helps the footage to stay exceptionally smooth and shakiness is almost completely eliminated. If you are relying on a quadcopter to produce professional grade film then this quad will not let you down.
What is the DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ Good for?
If it isn’t clear already yet, we’ll spell it out for you. This quadcopter is exceptional at producing great quality film work. Whether you want to get a high quality aerial image or you’re looking to create HD film from the air, you’ll find little else that offers such professional results at this price point.
